Sparked by Social Workers Appreciation week, Love Acadiana kicked off a series of appreciation events in March and April to recognize the efforts of foster care workers at DCFS Regional offices (Dept of Child & Family Services). Staff at Vermilion, St. Landry, Iberia, St. Martin and Lafayette Parish offices were treated to breakfasts or luncheons by Love Acadiana staff and volunteers, to acknowledge their long, tireless hours spent trying to improve living situations for children. Volunteers also cleaned the visitations rooms (which we also remodeled in recent years) at several of the offices, so the children could have fresh, clean environments to connect with their families. Our leaders shared prayers and encouragement for staff members at every opportunity, and they were welcomed gladly.
By supporting DCFS workers, we endeavor to boost morale and stabilize retention, which ultimately benefits children in foster care. Shout-out to all the staff members and case workers who stay late, and work intently to help kids in crisis.
And thanks to our donors and volunteers for helping us to make these investments in our region. Recent retention stats show that we are indeed making a difference!
