From the Great Flood of 2016 in Lafayette to Hurricanes Laura, Delta and Zeta in SWLA, to Hurricane Ida in 2021 and the tornadoes in New Iberia in 2022 and Henderson in 2024, Love Acadiana has had plenty of opportunities to respond to disasters. Not only have volunteers served locally but our generous community helped us to send resources to North Carolina and Georgia after the devastating Hurricane Helene in 2024. The video above shows some of the impact you’ve made with us for those who suffered so much.
Because of our strategic partnership with Eight Days of Hope, a national disaster relief organization, Acadiana has extra support when disaster strikes.
If a major event overwhelms local resources, Eight Days will respond with us—bringing trained teams and volunteers from across the country to help meet the need. After the 2016 floods, they helped rebuild nearly 130 homes in just eight days right here in Acadiana.
We’re grateful to be included in the Disaster Response Relational Network (DRRN)—a trusted group of experienced, like-minded organizations across the country, led by Serve Source.
This connection helps us respond more effectively, receive the right resources when needed, and point our local volunteers toward meaningful, trustworthy opportunities when major disasters happen elsewhere and they feel called to help. DRRN strengthens our ability to serve people in Jesus’ name—here in Acadiana and beyond.
